With this map, I hope to demonstrate the timescale and magnitude of international adoptions to America. Utilizing the flow map, countries and regions that send the most children are quite apparent. Additional graphics on the map provide an overview of the overwhelmingly decreasing trend in adoptions worldwide, as well as a brief history of international adoption. I also highlight specific countries, speculating about causes behind decreases, as well as increases in certain countries. I hope to bring awareness to the steady decrease in international adoptions to America, as it has detrimental effects on children and families worldwide.
